Speed Machine is a 90 minute feature film documentary that investigates the use of drugs in Nazi Germany and by the Allies during the 1930s and 1940s.

With interviews from pre-eminent historians, researchers and authors in this field, Speed Machine will explore the nature of addition in combat.

World War II, the deadliest conflict in human history claimed between 50 – 70 million lives. The Allied and Axis forces fought exhaustive campaigns from 1939 – 1945, but this was not just a war of expansion, a war of ideology, this was a war on drugs.

Whether the infamous German “Pervitin”, the communist Russian “Vint”, the imperialist Japanese “Shabu” or the 72 million amphetamine tablets issued to British soldiers, both Axis and Allied soldiers marched forward to their death on the varied euphoria of their chosen drugs. Simply put, the Axis war machines marched through Europe on Crystal Meth and the Allies marched back on Speed.

Even Hitler himself was frequently prescribed both cocaine and heroin by his physician despite being a staunch opponent to alcohol and smoking.
